Head Coach-Kevin Starnes
Coach Starnes grew up in southern California, and moved to Abilene, TX for high school where he graduated from Abilene High School. After high school, he played basketball at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and graduated with a degree in English and History. Coach's first coaching position was at Brookshire-Royal High School as the JV coach for two-years. After Brookshire, he accepted a varsity assistant position at Fort Bend Kempner High School, but only stayed for one-year. He came to Grapevine High School in 2005 as the JV coach and stayed for three-years. Coach was given the opportunity to be the head basketball coach at Alvarado High School, and led a program that won 11 games the three previous years combined to winning 55 in three years. They made the playoffs for the first time in 10 years. Starnes just finished his first year as the head coach at Grapevine High School, and is looking forward to leading this program to winning games and ultimately championships.
Coach has been married to Kayla Starnes for six years. They have one child, Kirby Sloane Starnes. We are excited to be apart of the Mustang Family.
